Last year a Red-headed Woodpecker showed up at Stony Creek Metropark and stayed all summer. This year it is back, has made a new nesting hole in a tree. I was there and saw him, but did not see a second bird yet.. So I am not sure if it is a pair or just one bird.. They are in the Oak Grove Picnic Area.. Also in the fields at Oakgrove there is a pair of Eastern Meadowlarks… Woods are getting quiet with migration winding down, but there were still some Blackpoll and Blackburnian Warblers around.
