This is why I love my macomb birding community. Its not a rare bird, but its an example of a great birding community working together even if its a simple sparrow. I see a text today that Brandon Aho had a Vesper Sparrow at Lk. St. Clair Metropark. Edward Lewandowski texts our group and says he is in the same location. He texts back and says he has the Vesper and a Savannah Sparrow in the same location as Brandon. Andrew Simon and Andrea Rose text that they have a Vesper Sparrow at Stony Creek. I am sitting at home and reading my text messages and decide to go out to my “vesper” breeding areas and see if they have arrived today as well… I find one on teller Rd in Ray Twp and two off of Mound Rd behind Stony Veterinary Hospital. A good location for this bird. I take a decent photo of the bird and later on right before dark as several of us are looking for a Short-eared Owl reported at Wetzel, Brian Mcgee and I hear a Vesper singing in the distance… 6 Macomb birders tied into one simple little sparrow species… birding is so much fun!!
