Some photos from the weekend

Saturday I birded at Wetzel State Park and Wolcott Mills Metropark… Birding was slow but I found a cool Pheasant at Wetzel.. Its a mutant variety of a Ring-necked Pheasant… Must have been released by hunters training there dogs… Jeff Steinmetz called me about a Purple Finch in his feeder, so I went over to his home and saw it… They are so cool and House Finches were also in the feeder so its nice to see both of them there for comparison. They really look very different from one another. On Sunday morning I spent my birding time with Jeff and Jen at Lake St. Clair Metropark. We had close encounters with a Wilson’s Snipe, Common Gallinule and Virginia Rail… A few Yellow-rumped Warbers around, Hermit Thrush and Rusty Blackbirds are still in the Maple Woods… On the Beach there are a good number of Bonaparte’s Gulls and too my surprise this morning, two Sandhill Cranes…
