Buff-breasted Sandpiper – Broughton Rd

I received a call today from Brandon Aho who found a Buff-breasted Sandpiper at a sod farm on Broughton Rd, north of 26mi rd in Ray Twp. This is the second time that a Buff-breasted has shown up in this area in the last couple of years. I managed to get a few photos of it from Broughton Rd. Brandon also had a probable Snowy Egret in the lake behind the Rec Ctr at Macomb Twp city hall… When I got there I could see the Egret in the lake and clearly it had a dark bill…. It flew as I was walking toward the lake and I took some photos of it at a long distance in flight. I could not see yellow feet in my photos… The bill was dark, but at that distance I could not see if it was two toned like the juvenile Little Blue Heron… I will be going back to look for it again. My son Andrew and I spent some time at Wolcott Mills Metropark today walking the trails… I saw plenty of migrating warblers, however we were there for butterflies and I did not have my binoculars with me… so most of them went unidentified… Tomorrow I bird!!
