Baird’s Sandpiper

Birding after work today.. Not much to see.. I got a FOY Sanderling at Lk St. Clair Metropark and had a nice Adult Bald Eagle near the south marsh… There were many Ruby-throated hummingbirds around and I found a couple of Magnolia Warblers and one Trails Flycatcher whose call note most resembled the Willow. At 18 1/2 mi in Sterling Heights there were Semipalmated Sandpipers, one ┬áBaird’s Sandpiper and 2 Solitary Sandpipers. I also had a couple of Lesser Yellowlegs. Inwood Trails were unproductive but I enjoyed a few Butteflies even if I didn’t have my macro lens with me…

  1. Hello Paul, Nice to meet you at Pte. Moo on Saturday. I got out to 18 1/2 Mile this afternoon to see the Lesser Yellowlegs, the Baird’s Sandpiper and the Semipalmated Plover. The Baird’s is a first for me. I started out at the north end of the field then swung around Van Dyke to 18 1/2 Mile and parked in the Junkyard parking space. They were all still there when I walked over to the field.
