Sora at LSCMP and assorted birds…

I stopped by Lk St. Clair Metropark this morning before work… There were a group of Sora (4) running around in the marsh out in the open calling to each other… I don’t usually see them in the open and one of the birds slowly made his toward me… I managed a few closeup photos. This is one of those birds that has been very difficult for me to photograph in the past… So I was very pleased… There were a good number of Loons flying over… 18 of them in an hour and I was not even looking for them… In the Maplewoods there was a FOY Northern Waterthrush… There was another one calling near the first bridge… a Common Gallinule was calling in the South Marsh near the little pond… I took off for work..

After work I stopped by Dodge Park for a quick walk thru the trails and came across a FOY Great-crested Flycatcher… ┬áThere were Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Ruby-crowned Kinglets everywhere… I came across a large flock of approx 30 Yellow-rumped Warblers on the Mountain bike trail… There was also a Pine Warbler in this same area… I made my last stop of the evening at Wolcott Mills Metropark and had a Ring-necked Pheasant walk around my vehicle as I idled on Kuntsman Rd… That was very cool….

  1. Hi Paul – I’ve been enjoying your blog; learning a lot about birds and photography both. I was wondering what lens you typically use?
