Post rain birding

I took the day off hoping to get in a little bit of birding… unfortunately it rained all day… ┬áThe rain stopped around 3pm and I headed to LSCMP to see what I could see… I hopped on the boardwalk and the Virginia Rails and Sora were calling from all corners… although none were visible… In the Maple woods I discovered that the Louisiana Waterthrush is still hanging around… On the beach there were a good diversity of waterfowl… Canvasback, Redhead, Blue-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Greater and Lesser Scaup and one Pied-billed Grebe.. on the way home I stopped at the standing water area that is east of I94 between 21mi and Hall rd and the Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs are still there as well as Solitary Sandpiper… Spotted Sandpipers were near the pond…
