Snowy Owl – Macomb County

I received a call from Kevin Rysiewski today that he and Dave Boon had found the Snowy Owl at 34 mi rd and Lone Plank Rd that we had all been trying to locate for a couple of days… I headed that way and found them and Will McHale near the location where the owl was sitting on a pole in the middle of the farm field…. We had permission to get closer so Will and I slowly stalked it and got some great shots and then it flew to a pole along the rd…. we made our way over to that location and with the sun setting on our back, we grabbed a few more shots before it became to dark…. This is the 222 bird of the year for me in Macomb County…

  1. Was the Snowy owl sighted near Lowe Plank road? not Lone Plank road? Just want to make sure where I am going. Hope to spot the snowy today if his is still hanging out in the area. Thanks.

  2. I live in Chesterfield off of Sugarbush and Jefferson. The snowy owl often perched in one of our back trees overlooking the middle school football field. I just said that I have not seen or heard our snowy owl yet this spring. I can tell he/she is not around because the squirrels are all over the place. I was thrilled to run across this website. Love it!

    • Thanks Cindy! Most Snowy Owls have begun to move north… people are still finding them in migration so keep your eyes open..
