American Golden Plover and Black-bellied Plover at Broughton Rd, Macomb Twp

Got up at 730am, enjoying a nice cup of coffee and I get a call from Kevin Rysiewski… He is at Broughton Rd between 25 and 26 mi and he has found a American Golden Plover on the Sod farm there…. I only live a mile away so I headed there and the Plover flew to the very back of the field bordering the Corn Field right before I pulled up. We observed the bird from a distance until it disappeared from our view behind some farm equipment. ¬†Kevin had a couple of photos of the bird, but they were when he first saw it and they were out the car window, and taken in a hurry.. so they are a little blurry… but they are good enough to see the black under tail coverts as the black extended from the neck all the way to the tail…. we were joined shortely by Tom Heatley, Mike Mencotti and Jerry Sniderman… by this time the American Golden Plover had disappeared, but on the other side of broughton there was a Black-bellied Plover in breeding plumage… ¬† I will be keeping on eye on these sod farms for the next couple of weeks and I am hoping on getting an upland sandpiper at some point…
