Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge – Saginaw MI

A new account I have for work is in Bay City… So after work I decided to stop by this refuge and check it out… This is a very cool place and I am not even visiting it during the best time of year… It was hot and muggy but I managed to find the Dickcissels near the parking lot at the beginning of the Auto Wildlife Drive…. I also found a nice looking Ruddy Duck and many Pied-billed Grebes, American coots and Common Galinules… There are Great Egrets everywhere and I found a pair of Sandhill Cranes…. Black Terns, Caspian Terns, Bald Eagles, Black-crowned Night Heron and Wood Ducks were also around… I would like to come back during shorebird migration or when ducks are migrating….

    • Wonderful photos! We were there on Friday. We missed the Dickcissells. Glad you got them. It was our first trip and we were amazed by all of the bird activity clear up until the time we left at 2 pm.
