George Phifer has resigned from his role as Director of Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority. I hope that the board finds a leader who appreciates all the people who visit the park and not just there to make money. Don’t get me wrong. Its a business and its important to run your business so that patrons will want to come to the park, however its also a valuable natural resource that has to be managed properly and he really didn’t care. When I heard from many people who worked in the park system that his style of management was intimidation and threats, then I really knew he had to go… Don’t know the real reason and who made the decision… but its a good one.
I stopped by LSCMP yesterday to take a gander at the Ruddy Turnstone and Short-billed Dowitcher that Brandon Aho had found… the Dowitcher was gone when i got there but I still managed to see the Turnstone, a Sanderling and a Least Sandpiper… there were also two Lesser Yellowlegs on the lawn area near the playscape… Unfortunatly for me I am having foot surgery soon for a bad achilles and heel spur and will be out of birding commission for most of fall migration… I also have a photo of a Hummingbird Clearwing and a Common Ringlet that I took over a week ago at Wolcott… I just haven’t gotten around to posting them… I have been trying to catch up on things before my surgery and traveling quite a bit for work…
