LSCMP – Cloudy and rainy… but marsh is alive

After work I headed to LSCMP for some birding… Woods were quiet… a couple of Eastern Phoebes and  a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker were the highlights… not much else… Pointe Rosa Marsh had a Bald Eagle, Kestrel, 2 Coopers Hawk, Northern Harrier, 4 Virginia Rail, Wilson’s Snipe and my first Sora of the year… I had a flyover of a Caspian Tern near the North Marsh marina and Eric Domurant had a Forster’s Tern in the North Marsh but I could not relocate it…

Ring-necked Pheasants

Its hard to photograph these birds, but I have managed a couple of good photos over the last couple of weeks… Tonight I had a rooster walking right down the middle of 28 mi rd and teller… I stopped my car and it crossed into the ditch and walked to the left of my car about 5 yards away… gorgeous bird… shot a photo right out my car window… A couple of weeks ago I shot a Pheasant in flight near the dump on 28mi and gratiot…

Ospreys at Stony Creek Metropark

Watched the Ospreys today for awhile at Stony… The nest is in the top of a cell tower off of Inwood Rd.  They were perched in a tree for awhile and one of them was eating a fish, then they both headed to the tower and were exhibiting breeding behavior…  It wasn’t the complete deed because the male was only top of her for about a minute and then he flew off… but still cool to watch…
