Merlin at Stony Creek Metrpark and a napping Snowy Owl from DNR Boat Launch…

I checked out the Merlin today that has been hanging at Eastwood Beach at Stony Creek Metropark… It was foggy, but I managed a couple of shots… I also found two Snowy Owls at the DNR Boat Launch off of North River Rd… As many as 4 at a time have been seen out there this week… Look for them on the roofs of the condos or Marina buildings… They also like the rock wall out in the lake…

Common Redpoll in feeder

I told Tom Hince to be on the lookout for Common Redpolls for me… I have been so swamped at work that I hardly have had time to bird recently… He called me this morning when a male Common Redpoll showed up in his feeders and I stopped by and saw it… Hopefully when we get some decent snow soon some larger flocks will show up…  Thanks Tom!!

Snowy Owl – DNR Pointe Harrison Twp

I went looking for the juvenile Snowy Owl at the DNR Point this morning… It was not there but I did managed to see an adult Snowy Owl sitting on one of the condo roofs bordering the parking lot… It was easy to find… I pulled up and saw a silver pickup up with a zoom sticking out of the window aiming the roof… LOL.. Mike (photographer who is at LSCMP most days) was busy snapping some shots..
